Watched this recently and have to admit, thoroughly enjoyed it.
3:10 to Yuma is an enjoyable old style Western with a fanstastic twist in the tale at the ending.
Christian Bale is excellent as the ex Civil War vet. Russell Crowe is in full swing as the quietly deranged and articulate ''bad guy''.
The film takes you back to the good old days of Westersn, which apart from Open Range, don't see these days, to teh times when men were men.
Bale (Dan Evans) and a posse have to take Crowe to Contention for the 3:10 train to Yuma, where Crowe (Ben Wade) will hang for his past demeanours, during this ride there is shoot-outs, killings and a mutual bond of respect, with Evans son catching up and I think admiring Wade.
I thought it delivered everything you would expect from a Western film, dusty desert's, killings, Injuns, big guns, a shoot out, even has a decent story which some films fail to deliver.
7/10 for originality and freshness, even if it is a remake, in days where blandness ie Disaster Movie can be no 1. |
